Race Day 20 March in brief

Maria Hamilton continues her tough race diary in pursuit of the Comrades 56 miles late May with the Cotswold Marathon. Guess there was no shortage of hills with Maria finishing in 4:37:43.

Internationally, Chloe Vincent, now back home in Germany was running the Rome Marathon. I notice in the results Chloe was representing Great Britain and appears to be back to her best, achieving 3:49:53.

The VRUK Publicity Officer, John Bateson was almost leading from the front in the 13,000 field at the Reading Half Marathon. I wonder how much it was due to his research for vegan running shoes! More to come on that issue when he completes the current project. John sped round the course in 1:20:02, position 142, setting a stiff target for our elite women: Fiona Oakes & Helen Fines!

On the South Coast and a day after visiting the Brighton VegFestUK, Ben Duncan ran the Hastings Half Marathon which has all the hills in the first half. Ben completed this well known event in 2:10:55 and another local member Karina O’Neill finished in 2:21:11. Well done to both of them.

If I have omitted your result pleased send it to Peter Simpson at the club e-mail address.
