We are massively honoured and excited to have been approached by the organisers of the Skyrunning series http://www.skyrunning.com/ to discuss if our races can become part of their 2014 calendar. This is very early days in the discussion, we’ll keep you informed of any developments.

In other extremely exciting news Runfurther Ultra Series have just announced that Vegan Welsh 3,000s is one of their 12 championship races, it would be really great if a few VR runners took part in this series maybe http://runfurther.com/ They will ensure that their sponsors are vegan friendly 🙂

So the above shows how our vegan aspect doesnt put off some serious names in  ultra and mountain running. Sadly that is not the case with WFRA (Welsh Fell Runners Association) who are refusing to put us in their calendar or give us free race permits which should be standard as part of membership. Their reasons are that we are a charity race promoting vegan products and that we are promoting a political view point. All of which is false. We only promote companies that donate products as prizes or food etc which is pretty standard. Ive explained the situation, also pointing out that they are sponsored by Innov8 which just happen to make vegan shoes. As far as politics go, being vegan is as political as being an omnivore. The FRA in England has been very supportive over the years so the Welsh guys should be too. If you are a member of WFRA or know members it would be great to let them know we arent a threat and could do with their support. Please be nice. Their contact details are andrew@wfra.org.uk

Cliff Bar are supporting our races with boxes of their amazing bars, even the white choc and macadamia nut is vegan! Scheckters is also sending products to us, we are talking to a few other sponsors too.

Borrowdale YHA will be the start and end of the VE3K race, they’re really nice folk and are making vegan soup and cake at the end of the run.

All our Welsh races end in a pretty beer garden in the Conwy Valley.

We are in preliminary talks with Welsh TV companies to see about filming the Welsh races.

Fellrunner magazine published our Vegan 3,000s race report (see here http://www.vegan-welsh-3000s.co.uk/#/fellrunner-vegan-3000s/4581041768), all the above goes to show we’re pushing veganism into mainstream fell/ultra running and being received very well… in most instances at least 🙂

If you would like to get involved in any aspect of the races please drop me a line, we are actively seeking…

First Aiders

Mountain Marshals

Aid Station Marshals

Amongst others. Runners this year loved how amazingly jolly and supportive our marshals were, so come with a big smile and the ability to cheer loudly as runners come through the aid station or checkpoints please 🙂

If you have any questions, want to get involved or have some suggestions please let us know info@vegan-welsh-3000s.co.uk
