Excellent running from Verna and Stephen Burgess at the Stanford Hall events both earning a PB and an age group win! Big well done to Heather Brunskell-Evans coming 3rd F60 with 2:27 and Yasmin Inglis 7th in her category with 1:56. Verna reports:
“Stephen and I headed up the M1 for this today and it turned out to be a well organised race in pretty good conditions. Beautiful location in the grounds of Stanford Hall with easy parking. Both the 10k and half routes were on quiet minor roads and well marked and marshalled. The twist at the end was a bit of treacherous off road and then a 200m run away from the finish line to a turn point and back again – hugely cruel. It was largely sunny and dry but also cold and windy. Also the race profile of undulating was correct – pretty hilly all the way round. So overall quite a challenge. A nice buff made a good race memento too. Loads of DQs which I can only guess was for the use of headphones.
Stephen 10k – 37:56 (PB) position 6/313 age group win
Verna Half – 1.35:52 (PB) position 56/367 age group win, 6th female overall”
