My third consecutive participation in these championships, last year I had an accident during the race but managed to recover and complete the course. I was wary this time of the spot where it happened and managed to avoid a repeat, in fact paced it quite well and was only 12 seconds slower than my first race where I finished in 42.16. The distance is advertised as 10K but in reality it is much less more like 9 – 9.5K. There were separate age category races, one for men over 50 and my event men 40-49, there was one event for women over 35. Given that it is a championship it was no surprise that I finished well down the field in 100 / 117.
