A reminder from Peter Simpson that the Animal Aid Xmas Fair is scheduled for this Sunday 8th, 10am – 5pm at Kensington Town Hall, London where VRUK will again be holding a stall with most kit available in small quantities. It is also an opportunity for a group training run in the nearby Kensington Gardens. If interested meet at the stall from 10:30am, departing by 11am. Bags can be left at the stall that Peter shall be covering.

Some excellent running from members at the Perivale 5 miler last weekend with members Jon Randall, Siobhan Carleton-Green, Verna and Stephen Burgess running. Not a member but hats off to vegan Stafford Harrier Matt Woodman for getting 3rd place

‘Races on Friday and Sunday for Stephen and myself. Friday was the Serpentine 5k monthly series and I managed a new PB by 34 seconds finishing in 21.22. Stephen did 18.08. Today was the Perivale 5m and again perfect race conditions. I was pleased to race a faster second half and match my 5k splits over the longer distance. I finished in 35.35 and Stephen did 30.19. Great to see other Vegan Runners racing too.’

Meanwhile Nik Windle (that’s me) and RafalTkaczyk were running the Watlington XC 10k hill race.

‘Great fun running a challenging but pretty route with 2 decent climbs and loads of roots and stumps hiding under the Autumn leaves on the descents. Rafal managed an impressive 47 minutes while I was just 8 seconds the wrong side of an hour though I think I was faster than last year.’

Rafal was 22nd of 150 finishers with a time of 47:41. Nik 94th with 1:00:08.
