Liverpool Half Marathon – Ice ice baby

We hear from Helen Watkinson who has been fighting the icy headwind of the Mersey…

Liverpool Half Marathon, Sunday 28th March 2010, 9.30am

Helen Watkinson  01:49:02

Sunday 28th March was the Liverpool Half Marathon, and as last year in Liverpool was my first ever half marathon, and really my first proper race, I was looking forward to a course I’d done before.  After the icy wind of the Mersey as we were lining up at the start, this soon changed into a glorious sunny day and the miles seemed to flash by as we did a tour of the cities parks, including Princes Park, Sefton Park and Otterspool Park.  In my head I was looking forward to the last 3 miles as they are along the pancake flat promenade path of the Mersey, but when I got there, the icy head wind was back and it felt like an uphill struggle all the way to the finish.  But I knocked 3 mins off last year’s time and got a PB of 1.49.02!!

I’m running the London Marathon on 25th April 2010.  If you would like to sponsor me please go to:
