Ed: Report on the Llanelli Waterside Half Marathon
Cédric David and Helen watkinson ran this race last year so they had an idea what to expect. It was an earlier start this year at 9am, the sky was full of white cloud and the sun couldn’t quite get through as we made our way to the start line. The course is made up of 2 out and backs in opposite directions.
The race started and we all set off along the coastal cycle path to the West, where there are a few mild undulations until the turn around in an industrial area before returning eastwards to the area of the start line just before mile 8. We then continued East, over a railway bridge, still along the coastal path to around 10.5 miles where turned around and headed back to the start/finish area where just as I crossed the line, the sun came out. Cédric achieved a new PB of 1.31.50 and myself a PB of 1.47.50.
This race has the most beautiful scenery and we where given a glass paperweight and a beanie hat as a memento which made a lovely change. We both highly recommend this one for scenery and PB potential!!
Ed: Ruth Newman also a regular at this event finished in a good personal time of 1:48:17.
