English National Cross Country Champs – Wollation Park, Nottingham, two VRUK members completed the men’s 12K, a 3 lap course.

One of the driest courses until a couple of stretches towards the end when the runners got a good coating of mud and saturated up to the knees from the deep water. On the 3rd lap and tiring I almost got stuck in the mud! A tremendous improvement on last year, David Campbell finished 1194 / 1657 in 53.45 and myself lacking training due to injury, finished 1484th in 59.45. At least a couple more vegans representing other clubs.

The 2014 event was my 15th since my first in 1996. All England Athletics registered runners via VRUK are eligible. The women’s 8K had 708 runners. All team results are recorded but VRUK did not have 6 men or 4 women for a position. Next February it is likely to be held at Hampstead Heath, London.
