Corndon Three Peaks (Wales)

We have our first result from new member Helen Fines, who took a very sporting attitude on Easter Monday…

I did my first race in the VRUK vest (2nd claim) on Easter Monday in the Corndon Three Peaks in mid-Wales. It was the first Welsh Fell Running Champs race but most people were using it as a warm up for the first British in Northern Ireland this Saturday. It was a short fast race at 5.5m and 1800 feet ascent on very runnable terrain. I had a race-long battle with an old rival, Anna Bartlett, who is back from a bad injury. It was good to see her running well again, but not so good to see her pull away on the final ascent! She went on to win, and I was second 31 secs later. I came down with a sore throat the next day so hope to be over it in time for Saturday’s race which is a very tough one in the Mourne Mountains.
There’s a pic attached. When I was wearing my vest, a runner I know from Hereford came up and told me he’d been a vegan for 30 years which was great.
