Brighton group had a great turnout at Hove parkrun yesterday, well done guys.
Dave reports:
BRIGHTON VEGAN RUNNERS
May 2016, Monthly Meet-up.
One of our (if not THE) largest turnouts for Parkrun social meet-up including seven new faces, Emily, Milly, Pheobie, Claire, Laurie, Ruth and Thomas all making parkrun debuts.
At the sharpe end Graham led us home (2nd place..with that 50th parkrun win still eluding him) and Barry agonisingly missing his PB by just 1 second (18:08 / 9th place).
Aiming for 24 mins with the Mike Harper train Jemma missed 23 mins, also by just 1 second, and Kirsty H and Laurie were both inside their target time.
Great to see new faces running today and hope you had a good experience. There was an exceptionally fast and determined finish our youngest runner, Thomas, making his debut run in 31:31
There are 12 of us listed in the results as Vegan Runners although we counted at least 15 of us running (plus Groupies Angie and Sue and other supporters cheering us on). We also had a few of our regulars missing today. If you’re not yet listed as a VR and wish to be you can change your ‘club’ on your Parkrun profile. Mike Harper pointed out that in terms of numbers of runners registered with parkrun Vegan Runners are now 34th largest in the country!!
Afterwards we had another enquiry about getting involved with VR…so we’re still growing!
Drinks and nibbles at the cafe afterwards, where once again Paula won the Vcakeoff!
Our next ‘Official (ha ha)’ meet-up at Hove park will be Sat 11th June (always the 2nd Sat of the month) but there will most certainly be shout-outs about other meet-ups at any of the other parkruns in the weeks in between (don’t be shy to make the suggestion yourself!). There’s also a track session next Sunday, all welcome (Paula coaching it. See Events) and perhaps other social/training runs in between (feel free to create an ‘Event’, even just to test the water and see who may be interested).
Thanks to all for making today a great meet-up. Feel free to add captiions to photos.
(We have left some of the rubbish photos in especially for Barry, Paula, and Mark. Enjoy. They’re dreadful!!)
