Reports are coming in of a busy start to July for members.
Verna and Stephen were on good form at the Thame Triathlon:
‘Stephen and I were at the Thame Triathlon on Sunday 13th July 2014. After a slow start to the season owing to GCSEs Stephen picked up an age group win in 1:00.38 and was 11/317 overall. I was 2nd in age cat and 101/317 in 1.11:54.’
Well done Liz Lockwood who was reminded the hard way that Wales = hills:
‘I did it! Wales Marathon done in 06:05:08 — way longer than I expected yet still ten minutes faster than London. Has anyone done the Wales Marathon before? It’s insanely hilly. Seriously, it’s relentless. When there was no let up with the hills in the second half any thoughts about time went out the window and I was just very happy to finish!’
Barbara Xella spend a too muggy morning joining the 1,000s at the Oxford Race for Life:
‘… It was actually pretty stuffy and I felt really tired! I had to skip a couple of workouts last week and didn’t get much sleep so maybe that didn’t help either, but it was still fun. I finished in 27’30” according to the finish line timer, but there were no chips! I am happy anyway as I was faster than what I managed in training despite feeling really tired’
We hear from Paula Blackledge – Astrid has since lowered her parkrun PB below 23 minutes 🙂
‘Hi I ran a lovely half marathon on Sunday. It was a four lap run along the seafront at Seaford, Sussex. It was a small not ultra competitive race. But I was still pleased with my women’s fourth place (out of 48) with a half marathon pb of 1hr 45mins 6 secs! Also Astrid my 11 year old daughter once again smashed her Brighton Park run pb this weekend in a time of 23mins 14secs (although the scanning went wrong some how so her time wasn’t right on the final results)’
Brian Barlow beat his PB and Peter Simpson’s camera at the MK Half, Peter reports:
‘NSPCC Milton Keynes Half Marathon 2014 – Brian Barlow’s PB of 1.41.27. During the race Brian was just too fast for the camera when I attempted two photos!‘
Laura Conway has been knocking down PBs like skittles:
‘Had 2 PBs in 3 days. Knocked over a minute off my 5 mile time to get 37:48 on Thurs. And over 20 secs off my 5k time at parkrun to get 22:45. So chuffed :)’
A fast half from Mike Tomkins:
‘Managed the Wyre Forest Trail half today in 1:32:34, not a spectacular time but pretty hilly and muddy and finished 9/245!’
Well done vegans!
