Worchester, Lichfield, Tiree Halfs

A busy Bank Holiday weekend for Vegan Runners UK saw members, here is some feedback from our half marathon runners.

Mike Tomkins and Sally Thompson ran the Worcester Half, Mike reports:

‘Hi all, took part in the Worcester Half marathon yesterday… a much more easy going experience than when I did the marathon last year!

I got unexpectedly sun burnt in finishing in 17th out 732 in a time of 1 hour 26 minutes and 02 seconds. I wished in hindsight that I had pushed myself a little harder in last 4 miles and I could have come much closer to a top ten finish but was worried about conserving energy. Never mind, lesson learnt for next time!’

Yasmin Inglis and Heather ran the Lichfield Half, Yasmin reports:

‘Lichfield half marathon with Heather Brunskell-Evans, sprint finish meant I just managed a sub 2hr in 1:59:20. My other half Ben Smith finished in a new PB of 1:42 so he had a slight wait!’

Sounds like a toughie for Craig Wallace at the Tiree Half, a 2pm start maybe too long after breakfast:

‘Done the Tiree half marathon yesterday. A nice route, starting and finishing on the beach, and small roads and tracks around the island. But very windy, and a bit of rain. I was going pretty quick to start with, probably because of the tailwind. Became much tougher when turned into the wind and along a rough track. Then hit the wall at about 11 miles, scary wobbly legs. But managed to keep running (slowly) to the finish. Time of 1:56:45, position 48/130. Then the local doctor noticed I was rather wobbly walking back from the finish, so I was treated for hypoglycaemia and hypothermia. Got back home today anyway, just about recovered now…’
