Keith Gilbert from Canterbury reports:
On Saturday {13 Nov} I did my first Park Run ever, I’ve only recently found out about it, and Whitstable was a new venue. In fact Saturday was the second staging for it. I cycled to Whitstable from Canterbury using the Crab and Winkle Way, part of the National Cycle Route No:1. It’s a pleasant 7 mile ride, mostly off road. Although not sounding very vegan friendly, the route is named after the Crab and Winkle Railway, the world’s first passenger railway which linked Canterbury to the coastal town of Whitstable. The Cycle route follows much of the old railway bed.
The Park Run event was very friendly and took in 2 laps of a coastal route. This was the first time I had ever raced a 5K distance and was timed at 24:45; 14th out of 54 runners.
