Weekly… er Fortnightly… Roundup

7th July
David Campbell:
… did the marathon leg of an Iron-distance relay, the Outlaw… “Just under 4:05. Don’t like making excuses but very hot and not much room to pass on tow path bit. My fellow triathletes all completed but times were slower than expected. I might be on channel 4 in August as I passed camera many times. Very well organised event although at £250 for team and £245 individual it’s not cheap. Although 1/2 of official IM.”
21st July
Matthew Toy:
Managed 412th (out of 11,839) in 33:23 for 8km at the National Lottery Anniversary Run today . The course was a bit dreary, but coming into the Olympic stadium was amazing and I was able to high-five Paula Radcliffe as she came back from the finish line! Just awesome!”

Hortencia McKechnie:
“Well the good news is I got to run around the Olympic stadium, the bad news is I didn’t go sub-50 minutes. 51 minutes 19 seconds for my 5 miles today. Methinks I need to go back to the track and then do some more hill pushes.”

Alex Portwine:
Ran the Surrey Slog this morning…it’s a VERY hilly trail half (hence the name!!). Luckily we had cloud cover most of the morning, so the heat was bearable, but the hills were relentless. I wasn’t running for a time, just to prepare for some autumn trail marathons, and to see some lovely views across the Surrey countryside.”

Bruce Lovell:
…completed the Dorney Dash 10K in 36.04 for 7th place…

Dave Arnold:
Waterlooville Triathlon (there is a fantastic photo on FB!) – see separate race report!

Maria Hamilton:
“Completed the High Wycombe half in 2:00:43 – very pleased to get so close to my ultimate goal of sub-2h on this course (the first mile is up a great big hill) as my training has not been sparkling lately. As ever great support from the locals and fantastic value for money (thanks, race sponsors!).”

28th July

Evelina Odej and Shelley van der Berg:
” …completed Wimbledon Common Half Marathon. We had good weather but paths were bit wet and crowded. Shelley van der Berg did amazing 1h 53min 14s and I ” (Evelina) “did lazy 2h 7min 39s.”

Helen Fines  WON the Blisco Dash! Well done Helen!!
Siobhan Carleton-Green:
Ran… “the Purple Patch Down Tow Up Flow Half Marathon in 01:58:35. A fun and scenic race but not a pb course due to the narrow gates and traffic at road crossings but I really recommend it as it’s well organised and you can even have well deserved shower after :)”

Joe Harling:
Completed the Lakeland 50 in 15:14, defying terrible conditions that led to a 20% dropout rate.
2nd August:
Bruce Lovell did the Blisworth 5k – see separate report.
3rd August:
Max Newton:
“Completed the Grimm Reaper 100 mile ultra marathon today in 22.45hours and in 4th place. In my vegan runners vest and had many conversations about it. ” WOW

Well done everyone – happy running!
