Weather warms up for Brighton Marathon, 14 April

Report and photos by Peter Simpson
I was disappointed to arrive later than planned and miss some of our runners pass halfway. Nevertheless I saw a lot of the runners here and the leaders going in the opposite direction at mile 25. One of our runners at halfway seemed to be wearing a water supply jacket! Another one or two I did not seem to recognise other than by wearing a vegan runners vest. Moving along towards our meeting point I was tempted by a good spot 200-300 metres from the finish but kept to the arrangement beyond the finish line. Most runners were wearing their foil so not easy to pick out our runners unless I could still see their vegan runners vest or they saw the club banner attached to the security fence. Passing through the finish I managed to meet: Georgie Simmons, Nick Balding, Kevin Harris, Ade Gibbon (member of VCAC), Sarah Whitson and Neil Kirsh (vegan and former member of VCAC) and Mary Davis (member of VCAC). Other vegan runners I saw passing through included: Jonathan and Jane Wilkes and Chris Taylor-Reed.
