This morning saw me off to the village of Charing in Kent, for their annual 10K race.
This is my third go at this, and it’s a very nice event. The course is primarily along quiet country lanes, with a tough hill at 4/5K leading up to an off road stretch along the The North Downs Way/ Pilgrims Way for nearly 2K. [I expect John Bateson passed this way on his recent North Downs Way Ultra, only he would have been running in the opposite direction] After the off road stretch it is generally down hill, back to the village school, which was the start and finish for the event.
Apart from the hill climb and off road section, I was averaging around 4:30 min/K, however despite the slower sections I completed in 50:33[chip time], 63/170, 4/7 men 55-59.
50:33 replaces last year’s pb of 52:44 for this particular 10K course. Maybe the Half Marathon training helped.
Next Sunday sees me off on my bike to Wingham for another 10K.
