Tavy 13 – Pleurisy & PBs

We hear from Cris Iles-W who is clearly a man with fantastic recovery powers (!)

A new race was held on Sunday in Tavistock, the Tavy 13 HM.  I was booked in but wasn’t sure I was going to take part as at the start of the week I had pleurisy.  Luckily it had cleared up later in the week and I was able to run.  It’s a fairly hilly course around lanes and through the town, and also includes some sharp turns.  The views are often excellent, and it was very well marshalled.  It finishes with 500 metres on track in the new stadium.

My aim this year is 1:30:00 at HM but this wasn’t likely to be the time I attempted it; anything not too far behind my Pb (1:33:55) would be acceptable.

In the end I came in on 1:33:23, giving me a small Pb and I was satisfied with that.  Next month I have a slightly faster course with a 1:30 pacer, and I’ll be aiming to break under the 90 mins then.  Based on this weekend’s experience, it will be possible but very tight.

Good luck…!
