Southampton Half and Fordingbridge

Jo Brown reports back on a successful 10k in the New Forest, a respectable 57:28 87/117 :

‘Ok so I never remember to submit my race details for the club diary, either because I sign up in advance and don’t give it another thought, or since my new job because I sign up on the day, or because I only do 5km-10km, usually 10km, and this page is full of real runners….anyhow I did the Fordingbridge 10km today. It actually starts from the tiniest fire station I’ve ever seen (think Trumpton!) but I chose it over a flat 10km in Winchester as I ran there in February, albeit another race, but I always try and go for the hilly option as that’s the only hill training I get! Haven’t got an official time through yet but looking at my running log, the last 10km I ended up walking part of it when I couldn’t run off a stitch, so my last 10km where I ran it all (they’re all hilly ones) I was 1m 40s quicker today so slowly but surely I will improve! Not bad considering I couldn’t run yesterday as my back was still bad from night shift. I think my strategy of 10km or less (with the exception of the Lakeside 8m) is working well in my bid to keep my race fees as races fees and not contributing to paying for a physio.’

Just the other side of the forest members were running in the new Southampton Half Marathon.
