Ed: Craig Wallace of Inverness reports on his events over the past few months:
Ben Rinnes Hill Race, Dufftown
about 22.5km, 1500m ascent/descent
A long hill race on a very sunny day, ended up with rather sunburnt shoulders. It was part of the highland games, so the race started and finished with a lap of the games field, with the crowds cheering. Then nice running up and over the hills.
Also met Dan Watson, another Vegan Runner, I think he was a fair bit quicker than me.
Nairn half marathon
Another highland games race, on a sunny but windy day. A nice route, mostly on fairly flat minor roads. I was feeling a bit tired for this, so maybe not running as fast as was hoping. So a couple of minutes slower than my previous half marathon PB, not too bad.
Achmony hill race, Drumnadrochit
about 4.7km, 220m ascent
A rather short highland games race, with some steep grassy slopes. Good fun anyway.
Loch Ness Marathon
Having another go at my local marathon. Again it was rather wet for the
first ten miles or so, but dried up a bit later on. And the same nice
scenery, with a few hills, but managed to keep going steadily. Exactly 5
minutes faster than last year, so a new PB anyway.
