The junior members of the Burgess family were all competing on Sunday 7th April 2013.
Stephen travelled north to Loughborough to take part in the British Elite Duathlon youth category. It was certainly a great learning experience and the first time he has competed at that level. He raced hard and was disappointed to finish near the back of the field. He was inspired though by watching Olympic and international athletes and thoroughly enjoyed himself. It was 2.5k run, 10k bike and 1.25k run.
Stephen 35.47 Run 1 9.16 T1 0.35 Bike 20.32 T2 0.31 Run 2 4.52
Winner 28.42 Run 1 7.38 T1 0.29 Bike 16.14 T2 0.19 Run 2 4.00
Nathan and Zack Burgess travelled east and took part in the Basildon Aquathon. This was the first event in the Eastern Region League series and they competed in Tristar 3 and 2 respectively. Again it was the first time they had raced in these categories and are in the younger age range of the band. Nathan performed well and was 4th (same time as 3rd but awarded 4th for some reason). Zack had a disaster in transition and was in the back half of the field.
A beautiful day though and great to be competing instead of having events cancelled!
Well done guys – what can we say?!
