Portsmouth RNLI 10K Sunday Oct 7th.

A  novelty for this event, the organiser made a video of the entire course from a bycycle, as its an out and back  i only needed to watch the out to get a good idea of how to run it in advance. The attraction being a flat course , also traffic free and by the sea.
Was suffering in the lack of sleep department on day , able to wheel in and leave bycycle in the boat shed (where was the lifeboat?) baggage drop and change there as well. Just like Fire brigade events handy having a suitable building available when organising a run.
Really nice October day. Chip timing but no club affiliation included so standard entry rate. 2 races started together , as well as 10k , the Pirates Pieces of Eight (an 8 mile run). Attempted as usual to stay around 4 minutes per Kilometer but faded at about 4k to go out to 20mins 38secs at 5k , so in the end the ambition to get below 42mins. My guntime on line was exactly 42mins but chip time 41mins 52secs. On such a course should have been at least a minute quicker.
Goodie bag  included a pair of socks, a pen, tube of toothpaste(?)  and a rehydration soluable tablet to put in your drink, which would be a good idea as a norm for events especially over longer distance runs.
