One weekend, two races

We hear from SDL who was pretty busy last weekend…doing not one but two races…

The first was the Boscombe 5k on friday evening March 5th 7:30pm along Boscombe seafront. Out and back you run to a flashing beacon at the halfway mark, where somebody shouts out your time as you turn . So I got out in 9 mins 28secs but as expected i was slower coming back to finish in 19mins 20secs, so a 45 second improvement over the same distance from the previous Friday at the Hyde Park 5k. Annoyingly although only 24 secs behind 2nd in my age cat I came in 6th V50 as a whole group of us bundled over the line seconds apart.

Vet 50 6th
time 19mins 20secs.

On Sunday March 7th, I ran the City of Salisbury 10 mile.
Out along one side of the Alder valley back along the other. Good weather conditions. Some undulations. This run was a disaster for me last year. So pacing it more evenly this time I was able to PB for the distance. A high quality field, so although my time calculates to over 76% age graded, I hardly managed to register on the richter scale. So feel I am definitely coming to terms with this distance now and hope for further improvement.
