Milton Keynes 10K (last of East Midlands GP series)

This is my local 10K event where I hope to be near my best for the year. The venue is the Open University sports & social club. After several training sessions the prospects were good despite the warm weather although not as hot as at the 2009 event where we all suffered and I developed a calf strain but still managed 42:45. Started at a modest pace and managed to maintain consistency through most of the course, helped by only a few short climbs and little wind. Noticably, I began to move up the field from about halfway. Not wearing a watch, this was a good guide to my performance. Approaching the finish I was delighted to see that I was just over 42 mins, crossing the line in 42.12. Given that it was a grand prix event I thought I might be lower placed than normal but again was pleased with 107th / 379.
