Goathland Half

Luisa Rabanal reports back on a tough but friendly Goathland Half:

‘I ran my first proper trail run on Saturday which was the Goathland half marathon. It’s part of the Hardmoors Trail series which take place across the North Yorkshire Moors.

The event was tough! A total ascent of 1500m across the course. Stunning scenery including passing by the most beautiful waterfall I’ve ever seen. Yet challenging, muddy terrain and a few sections where many of us found ourselves walking-see photo!
I must say it was the friendliest event I’ve been to and the organisation was superb. We were greeted at the finish with an abundance of cake and drinks at the end. We need more vegan runners on board to create a post run vegan feast! Luckily the crumpets were vegan and after that run I must say a dry toasted crumpet has never tasted so good!

It would be fantastic to see more vegan runners there! It was quite refreshing to just run for the adventure rather than for a time and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Next one is December 14th at Rosebury Topping. Hope to see some of you there or at future events. Check their web for details:’
