Early June News Roundup

John Bateson got 5th place (whoo!) and a sub-3h at the Kent Roadrunners Marathon…Got 5th place in the Kent Roadrunners Marathon (2.59.08). Wasn’t planning a marathon this month but got a last minute entry seven days ago. Interesting course – 17 laps of a cycle park. Much more exciting that it sounds! Anyway, very happy (I wanted a good for age entry for London having been inspired by our Vegan Runners in April – got it with 15 minutes to spare).”

Catherine Hansford did the 10k at the Poole Festival of Running…with the tail end of a cold and the sun refusing to hide around Whitecliffe! Learned that it’s more beneficial to throw the water in your face than to drink it.”

Noel Grimley did the South Downs Half… “Finished in 1:48:32 and placed 58/428

Had a tight calf and sore big toe joint early on in the race so I’m made up with that time. Fantastic race in an awesome location.”

Hortencia McKechnie did the St. Albans Half…Huzzah, I have finished St Alban’s Half-Marathon. I got a medal and everything! Chip time was 2:22:16 (gun time 2:27:25). Vastly better than my previous run at Tunbridge Wells! “

Alexandra Portwine did the Wargrave 10k…Ran the Wargrave 10K this morning…started by the one and only Mr Paul Daniels…”that’s magic”!! I forgot that it had some steep “undulations” so was pleased with 47:03. Had a good chat about VR with fellow runners at the end…all together a lovely morning out!!”

Quite a few folk did the Eltham Park 5 (expect a report + photos from the ever-reliable Peter when he has a spare moment)…
Paul S bumped into Dave and other VRUK peeps at Brighton and shared vegan cheesecake yum yum…

Darren Spindler and Georgie Simmons did a 100 mile bike ride…

and last but not least, looking to the future, the Vegan Welsh 3000s are taking place on Saturday…
