Verna Burgess tells of a category win on a tricky course:
‘Daventry Sprint Triathlon – Sunday 31st August 2014
This was my third consecutive visit to this event – well organised and friendly. All the marshals have a competitor list and encourage you by name – it really gives you a boost!
Pool swim – this one is weird as it is in a deep section of the pool with no side rails and a high edge that I cannot even reach. It is like swimming in a tank. Consequently quite hard to get smooth turns as no tumbling allowed either
The bike is hilly and bumpy
The run is lovely round the country park so mainly wooded trails and flat.
I had a great run in 21.11 and beat my time on Friday too, plus overall time was 4 min quicker than 2013. Picked up FV50-54 prize too. I raced in Hillingdon kit but had VRUK t shirt on for the prizes and general wandering about – lots of nice comments
First 57.54
Verna 1.17.03 8/101 female and 80/279 overall
Stephen raced too 1.06.37 and 14/279′
