Dean Miller reports back on the Cotswold Classic:
‘On the 20th September I took part in the Cotswold Classic 10 mile road race organised by Witney Road Runners. First time I have done this event and a great preparation for the Oxford Half Marathon in a few weeks. The weather was exceptional and although a little cold to start with it soon warmed up. The course was undulating over the West Oxfordshire country side which was an out and back route for the most part, a short loop brought us back for the final 4 mile.
My primary focus was staying within the specified heart rate zones given by my coach, I really wanted to push the pace in the first 5 miles but I stuck with the plan and relaxed into the run. At the 5 mile mark I stepped up a gear and really felt the change in pace. Each mile got slightly faster and I was able to push the pace harder than I thought I could, which was a nice surprise. My time was 1:25:30 and I came 175 out of 256. Fantastic event, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the Oxford Half Marathon where I will be aiming for a PB of sub 1:50′
