A fast run in windy conditions for Simon Dally at the Central Lancashire Half last weekend, Simon reports:
“Finished 8th today in the Central Lancashire Half Marathon in just over 1:20. Got 1st male vet 40 – there were two ahead of me but they finished 2nd and 3rd overall so they got prizes for that instead. Ok conditions, but it was hillier than I had expected and windy in places. I just need to work on maintaining that pace for 26.2 miles in 3 months time …”
Fantastic results from Neil Ford and Caz in the 2013 Cumbria XC League, Neil emails:
“The results of the local Cumbria XC races have been totted up and we’ve done fairly well.
In the Cumbria XC league, I was 2nd overall and 1st vet. Caz was 4th woman overall and 1st V45. As previously sent in results, on 7th December, I won the Cumbria XC Masters Championship and Caz was 4th in the Women’s Cumbria XC Masters Championship.
I’m turning my attention to ultras for the year now. I don’t know if the speed on the turf will help much in 100 mile races but it certainly gave my winter training a bit of direction!”
With Oxfordshire Cross Country Championships cancelled due to weather and the Sussex effort undermined by a change of venue it was left to Peter Simpson to represent at the Beds & Bucks XC Champs at Stockwood Park, Luton, read his report here.
Nik Windle ran the Goring & Woodcote District Lions 10k instead, he says:
“What with the Oxfordshire XC Champs cancelled I ran the Woodcote & Goring Lions 10k instead this morning. Provisional results show 53:31 134/252 which is about a minute slower than last year and I happy with as a start to the year. There is a big hill which I reckon must be worth at least 2 minutes
At last years event a runner called Liam Proudlock came up and introduced himself as a fellow vegan, he came 1st MV40 if I remember. Didn’t see him this year but the results show him as 3rd overall and now 1st MV50.”
