Verna Burgess reports on a successful tri despite the threat of a miserable wetting:
‘Box End Park Evening Triathlon Series Round 4 Thursday 14th August 2014
Stephen and I arrived to do this and sat in the car at 6pm – watching torrential rain bounce off the cars and listening to thunder rumbling overhead. I really thought about going home rather than do a triathlon in the rain – not having had to do that in last 2 years!
We braved it out though and by the race start at 7pm it was at least dry if not 25 plus degrees like it was on the last race in July. We both had a good race – Stephen made the virtual podium and came in 3rd overall. This is a very low key event and no actual podium! I managed a PB for the course in about 1.12.50 and managed to win the series FV50 prize, mainly by the sheer tenacity of having turned up for them all.
Overall I am pretty pleased to have posted a faster time at each event of the series this year and also to finally get under 15 mins for the swim.’
