What an exciting week with the annual VR campout taking place at Bicester this year where an incredible 300 Vegan Runners grabbed a barcode! That’s an absolutely amazing turnout! I know Mike was there and will be providing some inside info on the event later this week. Overall, we had 968 Vegan Runners attending parkrun events with 903 scanned, which means that 65 of you volunteered. It was a repdigit number of events attended this week with VRs repping at 333 different locations. The tutu’s were out in force on Saturday, thanks to Joanna Tomlinson, Kerry May, Louise Luna Galvin, Lori Bateman, Susan Martin for the photos, fabulous 🙂 Also out in force, Vegan Runners! 799 were in the scanned and volunteer combo, with 737 getting scanned. We were at 358 different parkruns. 186 of you solo repped, but no solo repping at Hampstead Heath where this weeks photo comes from, as Bristol VR’s went on tour again and met up with some London VR’s, 23 were scanned here 🙂 Three other big get togethers stood out, good numbers at :- 15 – CLARE CASTLE 13 – FOLKESTONE 10 – UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM There were 6 runners scanned at Southsea, Eastleigh, Burgess, Cassiobury, Alvaston, Hove Prom, Blaise Castle, Eastbourne, Whitstable, Hastings. I’m one of 13 VR’s who have run 30 parkruns, but there are additional opportunities outside the U.K and we have 5 runners scanned 31 times, 4 more scanned 33 times, and our top rep has managed 34 of the 37 possible, some dedication! Vegan Runners have been scanned at 924 locations worldwide in 2023. Obviously there are occasional cancellations which can mean a parkrun can’t top this particular list but only SOUTHSEA EASTVILLE LEE ON THE SOLENT have had VR’S scanned 30 times this year. A further 12 parkruns have had VR’s scanned 29 times, so possibly still 100% representation if say one has been cancelled. Fantastic news this week as Vegan Runners’ Club membership smashes through the 5k barrier! We now have 5,006 members worldwide and that is without a doubt due to your fabulous repping across the UK and beyond. Out of a total of 4989 members, 787 Vegan Runners took part in parkrun events in the UK at 329 locations on this second parkrun of July. 719 grabbed a finish token which means 68 of you kindly volunteered. The first parkrun of July 2023 hosted a fabulous 823 Vegan Runners at 365 different events! It was a hot one across the UK on 24th June yet there was an impressive number of 778 Vegan Runners repping across 337 parkrun locations. 713 of you walked or ran the course whilst 65 of you volunteered. Some like it hot and it was a hot one on this second parkrun of June across the UK. 806 VRs attended 325 events, we had 736 VRs scanned with an average time of 30:08, which is a fantastic time considering the balmy conditions. Every week since I’ve taken over writing these reports I’ve been able to announce new records for Vegan Runners at parkrun events and this week is no exception. This week saw 815 Vegan Runners participate in parkrun events – the biggest combined run and volunteer number ever! 759 of you were scanned – again our highest number since records began – and with attendance at 372 different events week, this is also a new record. As you can see, your repping makes all the difference! VR visibility at parkrun events positively promotes a healthy vegan lifestyle and encourages others to do the same. 🌱🌿☘️🍀🍃🌾 There was a myriad of meetups to choose from this week, including at Blaise Castle where 21 Vegan Runners got together, 19 at Alton Water (thank you for this week’s photo), 14 at Westmill, 11 at Southampton and ten at Edinburgh and Brooklands. Maybe it’s the sunny weather encouraging more touristing! Maybe it’s the VR meetups. In any case, it’s fantastic to see the green & black being present at more and more events each week, with VRs having repped at 860 different locations now this year. There are just 42 locations Vegan Runners have never visited – let’s see who can get there next week! Watch out for a separate post with this info.
