Blackpool 10k and St Albans parkrun

Well done to Richard Twine for a strong run at the Blackpool Stanley Park 10k, sounds like this was just the start of a promising season ….

Was 183/444 at the Blackpool Stanley Park 10k this morning. My time was 49:59 (though official time was 50:16 as they had no chip timing ). Very happy with that as it was my first 10k race in 18 months and it was five minutes off my training time. I’m running well for me and further than ever, and hoping to beat my 47:52 pb later in the year, as well as definitely stepping up to some halfs, such as Glasgow Great Scottish run in Oct and probably a local one too. First race as a 40+ vet too :)”

Hortencia McKechnie, Kim Wright, Jenny Driscoll and Peter Simpson met up for a slippery parkrun at St Albans, Peter reports:

“St Albans Parkrun – due to the flooded paths around the lake we used a temporary mostly off-road course but unsuitable for road shoes, consequently the grip was poor. More like a PW for me, await times. Great to have four of us including new member Jenny Driscoll. Due to weather our normal club kit was rather hidden but two of us had club jackets. Attendance was also helped by the campaign ‘Stop The Badger Cull’ coming to St Albans for a rally and march through the centre.”
