Every week since I’ve taken over writing these reports I’ve been able to announce new records for Vegan Runners at parkrun events and this week is no exception. This week saw 815 Vegan Runners participate in parkrun events – the biggest combined run and volunteer number ever! 759 of you were scanned – again our highest number since records began – and with attendance at 372 different events week, this is also a new record. As you can see, your repping makes all the difference! VR visibility at parkrun events positively promotes a healthy vegan lifestyle and encourages others to do the same. 🌱🌿☘️🍀🍃🌾 There was a myriad of meetups to choose from this week, including at Blaise Castle where 21 Vegan Runners got together, 19 at Alton Water (thank you for this week’s photo), 14 at Westmill, 11 at Southampton and ten at Edinburgh and Brooklands. Other meetups were held at:Abbey Park: 9Southsea and Thames Path: 8Woolwich, Worcester and Pitchcroft: 7 Alexandra, Moss Side, Gloucester North, Bognor Regis, Hastings, Hove Promenade and Zuiderpark parkrun hosted 6 Vegan Runners. 💚🏃 🖤🏃💚🏃 🖤 The average time taken for all Vegan Runners to complete their parkrun this week was another sub 30 at 29:55 – 12 seconds faster than last week’s average! 🌱🌿☘️🍀🍃🌾 Fantastic Milestones this week for:Matthew Savory 50Andy Gosling 100Jen Conway 200Tom Rogers 250Robert Crangle 300 Congratulations! Fastest ever time for 2023 so far is Jasper McDowell (15:44) from 18/03/23. Maybe it’s the sunny weather encouraging more touristing! Maybe it’s the VR meetups. In any case, it’s fantastic to see the green & black being present at more and more events each week, with VRs having repped at 860 different locations now this year. The 20th May 2023 saw great numbers again with Vegan Runners repping at 370 different parkruns which is another new record with 18 more locations and seven more VRs than last week 💚🖤. Previously our highest turnout was at 359 locations. We are so close to representing our club at 50% of parkruns as 750 took place in the UK on the 20th May. With green and black visibility increasing, more and more vegan runners are applying to join our club – the biggest and best running club in the UK. This week, 62 of us volunteered and 727 grabbed a parkrun finish token. The average time for all Vegan Runners this week was slightly over 30 minutes at 30:07 – not bad at all! I really liked Jayne Clare’s wise words posted on our Vegan Runners UK parkrun facebook page: “Never underestimate the power of planting seeds by repping in the green and black.” Top comment! 🌱🌿☘️🍀🍃🌾 There were plenty of Vegan Runner meet ups this week, the largest of which was at Eastville parkrun, which hosted an incredible 26 Vegan Runners! The 13th may be considered unlucky by some but for Vegan Runners numbers soared again for parkrun attendance on 13th May with 782 taking part compared to 729 last week! We repped at 353 parkrun locations. 73 of us volunteered and 709 grabbed a parkrun finish token – read on to find out if you feature in this week’s report. Lots of Vegan Runner meet ups took place this week the largest of which were at Hastings (11), Harleston Magpies (10), Blaise Castle (9). Thames Path – which is a brand-new location in its 2nd event had eight Vegan Runners as did Ashton Court, Swansea Bay and Beckenham Place. Rushmoor, Southampton and Worcester hosted seven Vegan Runners and Bognor Regis, Dartford Heath, Folkestone, Ganger Farm and Scunthorpe had six VRs repping. Sixteen first places were bagged by Vegan Runners on this thirteenth day of May – more first places than any other club – proving that a vegan diet is the optimal way to fuel top running performance. Congratulations to Andy Gardiner, Philip Nind, Ben Parmar, Matthew Rhodes, Matthew Timms, Andrew Millis, Matthias May, Thomas Almond, Darren Comeau, Matthew Wheat, Gareth Pritchard, Michael Slack, Matt Stephens, Pawel Pasko, Harley Team Vegan (Australia) and Matt Edmonds. The ‘reign’ didn’t stop Vegan Runners from attending parkruns in droves this week with excellent numbers again. 729 getting scanned is the 5th week in a row we’ve had over 700 finishers. We also had VRs repping at 359 different parkruns which is a new record, our previous best was 352. We’re getting so close to being at 50%, as there were 751 UK parkruns this Coronation weekend. 170 VRs got their fastest time of 2023 this week. Meetups this week were held at Ashton Court – where 20 of you rocked the green and black and Caro Line was first lady to finish in 20:20 – great running. 16 VRs went to Irchester Country for their parkrun, including Gary Sherin and Peter Simpson, both of whom do so much for our Vegan Runners’ club. 14 VRs met at Alice Holt parkrun and Philips Park parkrun hosted 13 VRs this week. Sizewell parkrun saw a sizeable punnet of nine VRs, as did Forest Rec, where again Catherine Charlton was first lady to complete the course in 21:52. Eight VRs repped at Worcester Pitchcroft and Great Lines, whilst Hastings and Hove Promenade parkrun saw seven VRs. Many other VRs congregated at over 364 locations, proving what a sociable and friendly group Vegan Runners are. There were also meetups abroad, with seven VRs getting together at Ekebergsletta’s 33rd parkrun where Nathann Thornton came 11th. Top speedies this week were Gareth Pritchard (16:59) Philip Nind (17:09), Matt Edmonds (17:29) and Ciar Nixon (17:59) for men, all coming first. Caroline McAleese (20:20), Naomi Sutton (20:48), Lesley Connors (20:50) and Nina Wozmirska (21:48) were the fastest first female runners this week. Congratulations! Top age graded kudos goes to Paul Millsom (81.54%), Andrew Millis (78.79%) and Geraldine Larham (78.22%). The average time for all Vegan Runners this week was a sub 30 of 00:29:33. On the noughtie step this Coronation weekend we had twelve speedy runners – CGSOs to Mo Warrillow (27:00), Hannah Jones (29:00), Michelle Flower (32:00), Simon Fitzmaurice (21:00), Jemma Banks (38:00), Natalie Faye Pringle (27:00), Daniel Wilson (24:00), Aleksandra Wielgopolanin (32:00), Theresa Frappell (35:00), Martin Leake (26:00), David Baker (34:00), and Monte De Luca (30:00). Thirteen of you bagged a finish token with a multiple of 50: Emma Warren, Kevin Doherty and Trevor Lambert. Ray OS came 100th. Other multiples of 50 this week were Craig Robert Barstow, Karin Glöckle, Hannah Rushton, Matt Salisbury, Lisa Lisa Rose Jepson, Vinny Brown, Zoe Williams, Patrick Morris and Jo Foulkes. Repdigit Reps this week were by Benjamin Smith, Laura Pettitt, August Frew (11th positions), Reece O’Kane and Laurence Baldwin finished in 22nd place, Paul Bennett, William Alexander Goodliffe, Jack Cooper and Alison Gillies were 33rd, Saffy and Carl Mowatt 44th, Caitlin Barry and Greg Turner 55th, Andrew Nortrop and Mike Rogers 66th, David Goddard, Loz Anderson and Russell Walker 77th, Chris Webb, Lauren D’Arcy, Dan Perry and Luke McKay were 88th, Joanne Egerton, Dave Mandy, Julie Oxenforth, Joanna McKenzie were 99th and in 111st positions were Dawn Carr and Chris Dixon. Finally, Corrina Barton was 222nd. Milestones this week for Andy Birnie and Kyle Martyn-Clark (50th). Gareth Pritchard, Gary Farquharson, Heath List and Rachel Billinghurst ran their 100th parkrun. Welcome to my first ever Vegan Runners’ parkrun report – and it’s absolutely brilliant to start by announcing that we have a new record, the total number of Vegan Runners parkrun members is now up to 4,853. Another record is that 809 Vegan Runners took part in the last parkrun of April 2023, either running or volunteering. Our top speedy man this week was Philip Nind who ran at Pontefract in 16:36. Top speedy lady was Mimi Connolly who ran at Hove Prom parkrun in 18:39. Vegan Runners are such a friendly social club and there were lots of VR meetups including Lydney (23), Southampton (20), Exeter Riverside (17), Felixstowe (16), Hove Prom (13), Swansea Bay (13), Holyrood (11), Worcester (11), Eastville (9), Hastings (7), Alvaston Derby (6), Kettering (6), Bicester (5) and Yarborough Leisure Center (5). Why don’t you organise a vegan runners meetup at your local parkrun for next week? CGSO guaranteed! Vegan Runners has sent full senior men’s and women’s teams to SEAA Road Relays to represent the club. For the first time in the club’s road racing championships history, both teams have completed the relay. It was also done before the mass start too. The senior men’s team finished in 47th  place out of 60 participating teams The senior women’s team finished in 31st place out of 38 participating teams Anyone interested in joining the road racing championships in the future, please email Road Races Secretary at: road.races.secretary@veganrunners.org.uk

Camino Ultra is London based ultramarathon running event company. They designed twelve trail routes and shared these to challengers via a pdf pack via email. The challenge was to complete the route ‘in your own time’ and once completed they would send you a puzzle medal – complete all twelve routes and the puzzles pieces would beautifully fit together Vegan Runners happened to be friends with Camino Ultra and our registered members were offered 15% off their challenge entry fee.
